The fibre of ramie is a kind of important textile raw material in China, but recently the area for planting ramie was decreased from 1.9 million acres in 2005 to 40 million acres in 2010. The fact that low efficiency in the harvest-time of ramie and high harvest cost year by year, has become a limited factor for ramie production development. And developing ramie harvest machine is the basic way to solve the problem. The cutting quality and efficiency of cutter effect directly on ramie harvester, of which cutter acts as a critical component.Model parameters of transversely isotropic material for the bottom ramie stalks had been obtained by test determination and research with micromechanics of composite. The disc cutter with equal slip cutting angle has been designed according to cutting theory of equal slip cutting angle. This paper studied the cutting mechanism of cutter-head cutting ramie stalks by dynamic finite element analysis, which provides theoretical guidance for the cutting test of ramie stalks. This paper designed test bench for cutting ramie. Using the method of quadratic regression rotatable orthogonal design, it conducted physical simulation experiment in laboratory on structure factors (slip cutting angle, cutter angle)and movement factors (cutter's rotating speed, feeding speed),which influence power consumption of ramie cutter. Mathematical regression models of power consumption, stubble broken rate and retention rate have been established by mathematical statistics method. That experiment factors and its interactions influence power consumption, stubble broken rate and retention rate has been analysed. Meanwhile the paper carried on integrated optimizing, and obtained the optimal combination:when the slip cutting angle of blade, cutter angle, cutter's rotating speed and feeding speed are separately taken as 44.5°,0°,1448r/min and 0.33m/s, figures of power consumption, stubble broken rate and retention rate are separately to be 419w,2.8% and 8.9%.
