Schisandra chinensis (Turcz.)Baill. is woody vine which grows in the vast northeast mountains.Because of lack of resources, after 2000 large-scale cultivation started. Planting area in northeast China is currently more than 1,0000 hectares. Due to a short history of cultivation Schisandra chinensis, many problems need to be resolved.To demonstrate the advantages of oblique shelf of lighting, the average light intensity and light availability every day on the surface of different shelves such as south-north shelf, east-west shelf and oblique shelf were determined. The results showed that the light intensity sequence of different shelves as follow:30°oblique shelf(64.1klx)>45°oblique shelf(53.8klx)>south-north shelf erect shelf(49.5klx)>east-west shelf(38.8klx), the light intensity of 30°oblique shelf was 29.7% higher than the south-north,65.5% higher than the east-west. The light utilization efficiency sequence was oblique shelf(100%)>south-north shelf(39.3%)>east-west shelf (24.3%), the light utilization efficiency of 30°oblique shelf was 2.5 times and 4.0 times as that of the south-north and the east-west respectively.To explore the capacities to adapt to such lighting frameworks as south-north, east-west shelf, and oblique shelf, as well as how lighting frameworks affect drug quality of Schisandra chinensis, Activities of hydrogen peroxidase (CAT), peroxydase (POD) and polyphenoloxidase (PPO), as well as contents of malondialdehyde (MDA), chlorophyll a and b, schisandrin, deoxyschizandrin, and schisandrin B were compared. Between three kinds of lighting frameworks, activity of CAT, POD, and PPO of south-north orientation is slightly lower than that of the east-west orientation and slant shelf, and chlorophyll b is the other way around, chlorophyll a and MDA have no difference between them. The contents of schisandrin, deoxyschizandrin, and schisandrin B have no difference between east-west orientation and slant shelf, but are higher 10.2%, 25.3%, and 26.8% of east-west orientation respectively.To improve the quality of herbal medicines by means of regulating secondary metabolism from the perspective of natural physiological ecology. In the present study, H2O2 and paraquat as carriers of ROS, propyl gallate as a ROS scavenger, and ethephon as a ROS inductive agent were sprayed on Schisandra chinensis(Turcz.) Baill. The hypo-concentration ROS could enhance the activities of POD, PPO, as well as CAT, and propyl gallate acted on the opposite side, but they all failed to break the homeostasis between ROS and oxidase activity and to exert any effect on the contents of the schisandrin, deoxyschizandrin, and schisandrin B. The hypso-concentration ROS could break the homeostasis, reduce the activities of POD, PPO, as well as CAT, and improve the quality of S. chinensis fruit. The ethephon could effectively improve the quality of S. Chinensis without the limitation of metabolic regulation.
