Teak (Tectona grandis L.f.) belongs to Verbenanceae genus in Tectona family, which is one of the most famous timber species in the world in view of its strength, durability and favored texture and grain. In this study, teak provenances / families experimental forest which in Ledong Country, Hainan Island was became the research object. A analysis of adaptability was undertaken in this study, which provide a theory basis for the application of teak. In addition, the growth, wood quality and form quality properties were determined and analysised, the variation and differences between different traits of provenances / families were revealed, the correlation research on the growth, wood quality and form quality properties was carried; A Multi-factor comprehensive evaluation method was taken to get a comprehensive assessment on different teak provenances / families, which will provide scientific basis for the selection, oriented cultivation and the rational use of timber of teak provenances / families; The main conclusion as follows:1. The result of the adaptability research showed that: In TP8306, Indian provenances showed more adaptation than Thailand provenances. Height (H),Diameter at breast height (DBH) and tree volume (VOL) showed significant negative correlations relationship with latitude, and there were significant positive correlations relationship between survival and rainfall of origin. In TP8202, 8010 provenance was the best provenance in adaptability and obtained optimal performance. In TPG8205, 7877 family was the best family in 28 years old preservation rate with 95.32%, 7764 and 7813 were the worst families and both of them with 58.68% in 28 years old preservation rate.2. There were highly significant differences in growth, wood quality and form quality characters among teak provenances / families. In the three trails, 3 provenances their individual tree volume (Vol) were bigger than provenances average in TP8306, Indian provenance of 3071 was the best provenance in volume (Vol) with 0.520 m3, which increased by 123.2% compared with 8204 provenance. 7 provenances their individual tree volume (Vol) were bigger than provenances average in TP8202, 8003 was the best provenance in volume (Vol) with 0.3588 m3, which 74.94% higher than provenances average. 13 families tree volume (Vol) bigger than families average in TPG8205, 7549 was the best family in volume (Vol) , which 32.09% higher than families average.3. There was highly variation in growth, wood quality and form quality traits among teak provenances / families; In all traits, the coefficient of variation of tree volume (Vol) hade the maximum range, and good results of selection could be got; The coefficient of variation range of basic density (BD) and heartwood content (HwC) were small, so individuals were similar within provenances.4. Traits of correlation analysis showed that: there were significant correlations relationship among growth traits such as H,DBH,VOL and BH. Wood base density (BD) exhibited certain independence, so basic density (BD) should be chosen independently in order to obtain ideal selection effects. The correlation among traits of Tectona grandis L.f. provenances / families indicated that the relationships among traits were complicated, it was important to take a comprehensive selection so as to optimise all traits according to breeding target.5. Each multi-characters selection methods hade its advantages and disadvantages. In general, multi-factor comprehensive evaluation method could become the better method for evaluating teak provenances / families which plaied good performance in growth, wood quality and form quality characters. Multi-factor comprehensive evaluation method was use to multi-characters select for TP8306,TP8202 and TPG8205, and the sort merits of TP8306 were 3071, 3078, 3070, 3072, 3074, 8204; At the same time, after a comprehensive selection, 5 superior provenances in TP8202 and 6 superior families in TPG8205 were selected.
