Dry apple pomace replaced alfalfa hay in various proportions was given to determine the effects on growth performance, blood biochemical indexes and cecum internal environment of the weaned rabbits. The purpose of this study was to choose the best proportion to the weaned rabbits.64 multiparous healthy the weaned rabbits with similar body weight were selected. They were randomly divided into four treatments(the control group,the testâ… ,â…¡,â…¢group),consisting of 6 replicates of 6 the weaned rabbits per each. The control group was fed on a basal diet and the test group was fed on the basal diet with an additive of 5%,10% and 20% dry apple pomace which was used for replacing alfalfa hay in the basal diet. The results as follows:â'ˆThe method that dry apple pomace replaced part of alfalfa hay was workable. In the whole trial,the weaned rabbits were in good health status with a few individual exceptions.â'‰With increased dietary dry apple pomace, average daily gain and average daily intake were firstly increased and then decreased, there was no significant difference within the test groups and the control group(P>0.05), except the average daily intake between the testâ…¢group and the control group, the testâ…¢group was significantly lower the control group(P<0.05). The testâ…¡group had the highest average daily gain and feed conversion ratio, so the weaned rabbits had the best growth performance in the testâ…¡group.â'ŠWith increased dietary dry apple pomace, the diarrhea rate of the weaned rabbits firstly increased and then decreased, the testâ…¡group was lower the control group and the other test groups(P<0.05),there was no significant difference in other groups(P>0.05).â'‹In terms of the protein content of serum, with increased dietary dry apple pomace, the total serum protein, albumin and globulin were decreased, but there was no significant difference between each the test groups and the control group(P>0.05). In terms of the blood urea nitrogen, the blood urea nitrogen grew with the increase of dry apple pomace, but there was no significant difference between each the test groups and the control group(P>0.05). In terms of the serum antioxidation property, the content of SOD and GSH-Px decreased with the increase of dry apple pomace, but there was no significant difference between each the test groups and the control group(P>0.05); the content of MDA grew with the increase of dry apple pomace, and the testâ…¢group was higher significantly than the control group and the other test groups(P<0.05), there was no significant difference in other groups(P>0.05).â'ŒIn terms of caecum inner circumstance, the value of pH and ammonia nitrogen concentration grew with the increase of dry apple pomace, there was no significant difference between each test group and the control group in the value of pH(P>0.05), but the testâ…¡andâ…¢group were significantly higher than the control group and the testâ… group(P<0.05), there was no significant difference in other groups in ammonia nitrogen concentration(P>0.05). The concentration of total VFA and acetic acid decreased with the increase of dry apple pomace, there was no significant difference in each group in the concentration of total VFA(P>0.05), but the test groups were lower than the control group significantly in the concentration of acetic acid(P<0.05) and there was no significant difference in each test group(P>0.05). The trends of the concentration of butyric acid and valeric acid were similer, they grew with the increase of dry apple pomace and the testâ…¢group was higher than the control group significantly(P<0.05) in the concentration of butyric acid, the testâ…¡andâ…¢group were higher than the control group significantly(P<0.05) in the concentration of valeric acid.In the whole trail, dry apple pomace replaced the proportion of 10% alfalfa hay was the best group because of the highest average daily gain, feed conversion ratio, and the lowest diarrhea rate.
