This paper selected two new good ground cover plants of the apocynaceae: Vinca major'Variegata' and Trachelospermum jasminoides 'Flame'.They were selected as materialundergoing five shading treatments (CK,Ⅰ,Ⅱ,Ⅲ,Ⅳ), the paper studied morphological indexphysiological index and photosynthetic indexes, for discussing the effects of different lightintensity on growth and development, physiological and biochemical characteristics and effectof photosynthetic characteristics of the two kinds of plant. In this paper, they were studied bymain variance analysis, multiple comparison, principal component analysis and subordinatefunction analysis for further shade tolerance analysis. The main aim is to find the best shadedegree of the two plants combined with landscape function, to provide theoretical basis for thefuture application of the garden using the two plants.1.With the increase of shade degree, Vinca major 'Variegata' underⅠ, Ⅱ and Ⅲconditions growed better and had good growth rates, especially under the condition of Ⅲ.Besides, net photosynthetic rate was increased. The growing status of Vincamajor'Variegata',from high to low, was Ⅲ>Ⅳ>Ⅱ>Ⅰ>CK,which was analysed by subordinatefunction. In short, the growth morphology and ornamental of Vinca major 'Variegata' were bestunder the condition of Ⅲ(Shading degree was80%).2. With the increase of shade degree, colored leaves rate of Trachelospermum jasminoides'Flame'was relatively high under CK,Ⅰ and Ⅱ conditions, plants growed better and had goodgrowth rates underⅠ,Ⅱ and Ⅲ conditions. Besides, net photosynthetic rate was higher underthe condition of Ⅱ and Ⅲ. The growing status of it,from high to low, was Ⅲ> CK>Ⅱ>Ⅳ>Ⅰ,which was analysed by subordinate function. In short, the growth morphology and ornamental of Trachelospermum jasminoides 'Flame'were best under the condition of Ⅱ(Shading degree was65%) because colored leaves were themost important indicators of it3. The shade tolerance of Vinca major 'Variegata' is much better than the shade toleranceTrachelospermum jasminoides 'Flame', which was analysed by subordinate function.
