Pinus tabulaeformis Carr. is the native tree species in China, distributing in Warm Temperate Zone. It could conserve soil and water, improve soil with its root having a strong adaptability to environment and a perfact tolerance to drought and barren as well as could beauty the enviroment. Due to higher survival rate, Pinus tabulaeformis Carr. is the primary tree species planted in the Barren Hills and Returning Farmland to Forest area in Loess Plateau. In the study P. tabulaeformis plantation communities were systematically investigated using the methodology in Dongshan Mountains, concluding the classification, ordination, the species diversity, interspecific relationships of dominant species, which could provide scientific references for building and management of P. tabulaeformis plantation. The 40 sample plots of P. tabulaeformis plantation were classified into 10 groups by TWINSPAN. The DCA ordination revealed that the aspect and the soil were the dominant factors in the distribution pattern of P. tabulaeformis plantation communities in Dongshan Mountains,Taiyuan. The first axis of the DCA ordination reflected the influence of aspect on P. tabulaeformis plantation communities. The second axis that indicated the relationship between communities and the soil. The ordinations of the 56 species and 40 quadrats showed the similar results. The distribution pattern of the species was similar to the type of the communities. From the perspective of community types, community structure, the diversity of P. tabulaeformis plantation communities were analized by using the Shannon index, the Simpson index, the richness index and the eveness index. The results showed that the Shannon index of 10 asociation groups in the following order:Ⅳ>Ⅵ>Ⅴ>Ⅸ>Ⅷ>Ⅱ>Ⅶ>Ⅹ>Ⅲ>Ⅰ. The results of the richness index, the Shannon index and the eveness index had a good consistency. The growth year, the habitat and human disturbance of P. tabulaeformis plantation resulted in the differences of communities diversity characteristic. The interspecies of the dominant species of P. tabulaeformis plantation were examined usingχ2 Test, Pearson's correlation coefficient and Spearman's rank correlation coefficient. Theχ2Test showed that the herb layer had the most species pairs, the shrub second and the tree the least. The results of Pearson's correlation coefficient and Spearman's rank correlation were consistent with that ofχ2 Test. The results showed that the number of species pairs in negative association was more than that in positive association, which indicated P. tabulaeformis plantation communities were in the succession stage. According to the results of interspecies and Spearman's rank correlation coefficient,30 dominant species can be divided into 3 ecological species groups, P. tabulaeformis ecological species group, Viburnum schensianum ecological species group, Polygonatum odoratum ecological species group.By the diversity and interspecies, P. tabulaeformis plantation were in the prometaphase of the succession (young and middle-aged phase), in which the species had a fierce competition. By contrast on 20 years old and 60 years old P. tabulaeformis plantation, the plantation had a good effect on habitat.
