In this paper Isatis tinctoria was researched thoroughly which included its, the system establishing of standardized cultural technique,the control of water and fertilizer, the growth variation in different sowing date in oder to providing the scientific basis of its standardized culture.The main result as follows:1 Biological characteristics and growth and development regularity of sowing dateWhen Isatis tinctoria was sowed in april 5 in Hanying area, its had the maximum output.if we didn't sowed during this period it was low yield and the quality was not good.There were differences in the thousand-seed weight, single average yield and yield per mu if we sowed Isatis tinctoria during spring and autumn,but it had little difference in seed germination rate.2 Establishing of standardized cultural techniqueThe most suitable planting density of Isatis tinctoria was 25×7cm,the most appropriate cultivation pattern of Isatis tinctoria was ridge planting which height was 20cm and level row was not fit to Isatis tinctoria. The optimum management mode of Isatis tinctoria was plastic film mulching. Both cases(harvesting and not harvesting indigowood leaf), the production was not very different, although they had Large individual differences, the growth of Isatis tinctoria was better which we harvested indigowood leaf and had less death,so their production was same.3 Fertilizer requirement characteristics of Isatis tinctoriaThe growth and production of Isatis tinctoria were promoted by applicating organic manure.The diameter and prodution of isatis root were improved by sprayed the solution of ferrous sulfate, zinc sulfate and borax but not by sprayed the solution of manganese sulfate and ammonium molybdate. The prodution of indigowood leaf were improved by sprayed the solution of solution of ferrous sulfate and zinc sulfate but not by sprayed the solution of manganese sulfate and borax.The different harvest model of isatis root influented their production and growth. Topdressing after harvesting indigowood leaf can significantly increase the height of isatis root,at the same time increase bifurcation of isatis root. In order to improve the production of Isatis tinctoria and increase economic benefit, isatis root need harvest only once and not topdressing.4 Effect of water stress on growth of Isatis tinctoriaWith the increase of the extent and duration of water stress, the quantity of water requirement, chlorophyll content, respiration rate,photosynthesis and biomass of I. indigotica were decreased, while water use efficiency increased. It was a critical period of water requirement in July, high water contentin soil and extreme water stress are not propitious to the accumulation of indirubin. The root vigor decreased with the increase of degree and time of water stress.
