ObjectiveTo investigate the clinical manifestation, diagnosis and treatment of Descemet's membrane detachment after cataract surgery, and analyze the possible mechanism, diagnosis standard and treatment way of its onset. To provide the foundations for prevention, early diagnosis and treatment.MethodsCases of Descemet's membrane detachment after cataract surgery in 2nd affiliated hospital of Zhejiang University from June 2010 to March 2011 were studied; and did clinical observation research to Descemet's membrane detachment by using the slit-lamp,ultrasound biomicroscopy (UBM). We searched the PubMed database of the National Library of Medicine online form 1980 to 2010 using all related terms (cataract, cornea,Descemet's membrane detachment).and comprehensively analyzed the mechanism, diagnosis, research approach and treatment.ResultThere is one case of Descemet's membrane detachment after cataract surgery from June 2010 to March 2011, with left eye. The patient was female,70 years old, had taken the cataract surgery for her left eye. The Descemet's membrane detachment was observed intraoperative. Anterior chamber injection of viscoelastic material was used to repair, which was failed after one month. Then, suture was used to reattach the Descemet's membrane to the stroma. Fortunally, it worked.Conclusion1. Descemet's membrane detachment can be a visually devastating complication of intraocular surgery.2. Early detection is necessary to preserve vision and prevent permanent damage of descemet's membrane.3. Smaller detachments typically resolve with topical treatment, larger or more progressive detachments require surgical intervention.4. Successful repair after detection is important to restore vision.
