Objective:To investigate the diffusion tensor imaging(DTI) and cognitive function characteristics of different onset forms of idiopathic Parkinson's disease (PD), and aim at providing clue for pathogenesis, identification of clinical subtypes, predictions of the course and individualized therapy. Methods:Eight cases with non-tremor onset PD and seven cases with tremor onset PD were performed DTI on a 3.0Tesla scanner and estimated by mini-mental state examination(MMSE), the fractional anisotropy(FA) value were obtained from the dorsal substantia nigra, ventral putamen, dorsal posterior putamen and the cephalosome of caudate nucleus. Independent sample t-test was used as statistical analysis method. Results:The analysis of all PD patients showed no significant difference between the nigrostriatal system FA value and MMSE scores in the subgroups tremor onset and non-tremor onset. Conclusion:DTI to identify different onset forms of PD may not be meaningful, the MMSE scores of different onset forms of PD patients showed no significant difference, more samples are required in future studies.
