Homocysteine, C Reactive Protein and D-dimer levels were measured in 244 cerebral infarction patients. All cerebral infarction patients were prospectively subdivided according to the TOAST classification into five groups: large artery atherosclerotic cerebral infarction group, small artery occlusion lacunar infarction group, cardio embolism group and group of unknown or other cause. Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) and Chi-square test were used to examine difference of all the measurements between different stroke subtypes. Results:The serum Hey levels in large artery atherosclerotic(LAA)stroke group were significantly higher than those in cardio embolism(CE) group(P=0.027), The serum Hey levels in small artery occlusion (S AO)stroke group were significantly higher than those in cardio embolism(CE) group(P=0.002). There was no significant difference between the subgroups of cerebral infarction patients in The serum C Reactive Protein levels(P>0.05). The serum D-dimer levels in cardio embolism(CE) group were significantly higher than those in large artery atherosclerotic(LAA)stroke group (P=0.012). The serum D-dimer levels in cardio embolism(CE) group were significantly higher than those in small artery occlusion (S AO)stroke group (P=0.003). There was no significant difference between the large artery atherosclerotic(LAA)stroke group and small artery occlusion (SAO)stroke group. Conclusion:The plasma Hey levels in the patients with large artery atherosclerotic(LAA)stroke group and small artery occlusion (SAO)stroke group was significantly higher than that in the cardio embolism(CE) group. The difference of plasma Hey levels was not significant between the large artery atherosclerotic stroke group and small artery occlusion stroke group. There is no correlation either between the serum C Reactive Protein levels and various subtypes of cerebral infarction. The plasma D-dimer levels in the patients with cardio embolism(CE) group was significantly higher than that in the large artery atherosclerotic(LAA)stroke group and small artery occlusion (SAO)stroke group. There was no significant difference between the large artery atherosclerotic(LAA) stroke group and small artery occlusion (SAO)stroke group. | | Keywords/Search Tags: | Homocysteine(Hcy), C Reactive Protein, D-dimer, TOAST, cerebral infarction subtypes | PDF Full Text Request | Related items |
