Objective:To compare the early clinical results between PFC Sigma RPF and PFC Sigma RP prosthesis in total knee arthroplasty. Methods:Randomly assign the patients from December 2009 to October 2010,who are first underwent total knee arthroplasty, into RPF group and RP group. There are 20 patients(20 knees) in RPF group, includes 3 males and 17 females. The average age of RPF group is 67.10±8.84. There are 16 patients(16 knees) inRPgroup, includes 2 males and 14 females. The average age of RP group is 67.56±7.68.Results:In RPF group, the preoperative ROM is 93.50°±12.37°,and the HSS score is 51.55±8.85. In RP group, the ROM is 94.69±13.23°,and HSS is 53.75±6.54.There are no significant differences in general data between two groups, so the clinical data of 2 groups have comparability. All incisions achieve healing. No complications of infection, DVT, pulmonary embolish, ankylosis, and prosthesis loosening occurred In RPF group, common peroneal nerve palsy occurred in 2 case. There are no significant differences in ROM between two groups at 2 weeks and 3 months after operation. At the final follow-up, the postoperative ROM was 124.00°±4.76°in RPF group, and was 117.81°±5.76°in RP group, showing significant differences, the postoperative HSS score was 92.90±1.17 in RPF group, and was 91.81±1.68in RP group, showing significant differences. In RPF group, the postoperative increase in ROM who had more than 100°was 21.87°±7.53°,and was 36.25±6.08°who had less than 100°showing significant differences. The ROM at 6 months in RPF group whose preoperative ROM less than 100°is more than that in RP group, showing significant differences. The same to preoperative ROM more than 100°. The postoperative increase in ROM in RPF group whose preoperative ROM was less than 100°is more than the RP group whose preoperative ROM was less than 100°, showing significant differences. There are no significant differences in postoperative increase ROM between 2 groups whose preoperative ROM was more than 100°. Conclusion:The postoperative ROM and HSS knee score by RPF prosthesis is superior to that by RP prosthesis. For RPF prosthesis, the patients who had less than 100°can get more postoperative increase in ROM than who had more than 100°.
