Objective:To evaluate the value of the singal and thickness changes in articular cartilage by MR,and assessment to the curative effect of GuiShaoKangXi Granules on knee.Material and Methods:40 cases of cartilage damage in with clinically proved were selected,with GuiShaoKangXi Granules 20 cases, with Glucosamine Sulfate 20 cases.The therapy group were examed after one year of the treatment of GuiShaoKangXi Granules.The controlled group take the Glucosamine Sulfate at the same time by MRI.Main methods are as follows:Geman Simens Avanto 1.5T magnetic resonane machine.The patients were suspected as articular cartilage damage in clinic.All the cass were scanned by FSE two-echo scan,with the parameter of TR2900ms,TE(1)14ms,TE(2)84ms,FOV180,thickness 4mm,matrix 512×230,Averagel;together with FS-3D-FISP,TR38ms,flip angle 40 degree,thickness 1.5mm,FOV180mm, matrix 512X230,average1,time 7min21s Using the sequence of FS-3D-FISP to measure the thickness of the cartilage;and the sequence of FSE to measure T2 value of cartilage disorders.These were examined by two professional doctors.Results:The singal and thickness changes in articular cartilage of osteoarthritis were showed in MR. The contour changes were as follow:(1)cartilage surface coarsed (2) cartilage thinned in localized (3)cartilage intermitted (4) bone changes under cartilage.The signal changes were showed in T2WI,and showed signal brighted.The examine showed 4 cases of cartilage surface coarsed,26 cases of cartilage thinned in localized,and 10 cases of cartilage intermitted.The thickness were showed 0.8mm-2.7mm,the T2 value were 53.1±2.4ms- 75.5±6.8ms.The T2 value changes on the therapy group of GuiShaoKangXi Granules had significant difference(P<0.05),and also with the thickness(P<0.05).The T2 value and thickness changes on controlled group of Glucosamine Sulfate were significantly different(P<0.05, P<0.005).Intra-group changes shows no difference (P>0.05).Conclusion:FS-3D-FISP and FSET2WI can manifest the changes of singal and thickness in articular cartilage and assessment the damage of articular cartilage.GuiShaoKangXi Granules showed the effect of modify on articular cartilage.
