Magnetic resonance imaging is the most important imaging methods to evaluate the knee joint cartilage trauma or degenerative damage. This kind of noninvasive inspection method can be used to find lesions, monitoring pharmacological and surgical treatment of effect. T2mapping and Diffusion weighted imaging has extraordinary potential which to diagnose early cartilage damage, while have a lot of clinical effect, and combined with other technical in different intensity of magnetic field can be used to study the characteristics of cartilage change in clinical. Objective To study the difference of the T2values and apparent diffusion cofficient (ADC) values of the healthy volunteers and the patients with early knee joint osteoarthritis, and study T2values and ADC values in the medial femoral condyle (MFC), lateral femoral condyle (LFC), medial tibia (MT), lateral tibia (LT) and patella cartilage. Explore the value of T2mapping and diffusion weighted imaging in the diagnosis and detection of early osteoarthritis. Methods We studied35normal control and52early osteoarthritis patients, and respectively scaned with T2mapping and diffusion weighted imaging, T2and ADC values of cartilage were measured in the imaging workstation. Using statistical methods to compare the T2values and ADC values in the health group and early osteoarthritis group, and the differences between the groups were statistically analyzed.Result The mean T2and ADC values of normal control group were38.42±4.43and (1.52±0.21) X10-3mm2/s, the mean T2and ADC values of early osteoarthritis patients were53.15+4.17and1.79±0.37)×10-3mm2/s. Patients with early knee joint cartilage osteoarthritis T2values and ADC values were significantly higher than normal control, the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05).Conclusion The T2value and ADC value of early osteoarthritis cartilage group were significantly increased. Magnetic resonance imaging T2mapping and diffusion weighted imaging in diagnosis of early nonmorphological cartilage lesions have great value in clinical application.
