Objective:To investigate the changes of concentration of peripheral serum tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α),interleukin-6(IL-6) and galectin-3 in children with mycoplasma pneumonia (MPP) pneum and its clinical significance.Material and methods:The concentration of TNF-α, IL-6 and Gal-3 were determined by double-antibody sandwich enzyme-linked immunosobent assay (ELISA) in the peripheral of 50 children with Mycoplasma Pneumonia as well as 30 healthy children who were taken as the control group.50 cases of mycoplasma pneumonia were divided into a severe group and a lighter group according to their clinical menifestation.Result:1. The levels of TNF-a, IL-6 and Gal-3 were obviously higher in children with mycoplasma pneumonia compared to that of control group. (p<0.05);2. While the levels in children of the severe group were also significantly higher than those in the lighter group (p<0.05).3.After treatment the level of TNF-α, IL-6 and Gal-3 decreased in the recovering period. Conclusions:The levels of TNF-α, IL-6 and Gal-3 were obviously higher in children with mycoplasma pneumonia, While the levels in children of the severe group were also significantly higher than those in the lighter group. And After treatment the level of TNF-α, IL-6 and Gal-3 decreased in the recovering period. It means that TNF-α, IL-6 and Gal-3 may play an important role in the development of mycoplasma pneumonia. So TNF-αIL-6 and Gal-3 are good menifestation to measure the pathogenesis of mycoplasma pneumonia.
