Objective:To analyze the effect and correlation factors of Octreotide reducing Hepatic venous pressure gradient (HVPG)Methods:The clinical data of 35 patients with Portal Hypertention were retrospectively analyzed. They all underwent measurements of HVPG and infusion of Octreotide. WHVP and FHVP were retrospectively recorded at 1,2 and 15 minute. The statistical analysis was performed by use of SPSS17.0. The reducing HVPGs were analyzed by Paired-Samples T Test(VS baseline HVPGs). According to the reducing percent of HVPG at 1 minute, All the 35 patients were divided into two groups. The data of the two groups were analyzed by Univariate Analysis, including the sex, age, etiological factors, together with hepatic carcinoma, history of partial splenic artery embolization, splenectomy, or Esophageal variceal ligation (EVL), history of variceal bleeding, laboratory tests, imaging results, gastroscopic findings, and clinical manifestations. After the first measurements of HVPG, all the 35 patients were given carvedilol 12.5mg qd. The blood pressures and heart rates were monitored during one week, and the dosages of carvedilol were adjusted according to patients blood pressures and heart rates. After one week, a total of 30 patients insisted on a second measurement of HVPG. The same way of infusion and dosage of Octreotide was given by the same operator. WHVP and FHVP were retrospectively recorded at 1, 2 and 15 minute. The reducing percents of HVPG were analyzed by Independent-Samples T Test(VS the first measurement of HVPG) to evaluat the influence ofβ-blocker on the efficacy of octreotide. Results:The reducing percents of HVPG at 1,2 and 15 minute were retrospectively-39.7±31.2%,-27.9±28.9% and -15.6±30.4%(VS baseline HVPGs). The age was correlated with the efficacy of octreotide, p<0.05. After one week of medication, compared to the first measurement of HVPG, The reducing percents of HVPG at 1,2 and 15 minute were retrospectively -56.0±49.1% vs -43.3±32.8%,-34.9±28.4% vs -34.5±30.4%,-9.4±25.9% vs -14.8±29.7%(all p>0.05)Conclusion:The results indicate that Octreotide can cause immediate and significant reduction of HVPG. The age was the correlation factor for the efficacy of octreotide.β-blocker doesn't reduce the effect of Octreotide.
