OBJECTIVE: This paper aims to use components as the key factors to explore the feasibility of evaluation method about the learning effect of Web-based PBL. We designed self-assessment questionnaire to carry out WPBL self-evaluation. Dummy variables were introduced to solve the problem of multicollinearity between the variables. The variance contribution rate was used as weights to make an objective evaluation of teaching effective evaluation of WPBL learning effect.METHODS: We distributed a questionnaire to 101 students of clinical bilingual class of 2007 to 2008 grade in Guangzhou Medical University. Cranach'sαcoefficient was used to evaluate intrinsic consistency reliability of the questionnaire. Average Between-groups linkage was used to hierarchical clustering. We applied principal component analysis to extract components and to explain components which were orthogonally rotated by varimax. RESULTS: The questionnaire's intrinsic consistency reliability Cranach'sαcoefficient was 0.85. Four components were extracted with Eigen values greater than 1,And the cumulative contribution rate was 64.99%. Comprehensive evaluation model was expressed as : E=K1 +K2 +K3 +…+Kj(j=1,2,…,m)Four components which were orthogonally rotated by varimax were interpreted as collective collaboration capabilities, Self-learning and quest skills, clinical reasoning and problem-solving capabilities, memorizing and understanding of medical knowledge. And students'learning effect was well evaluated.CONCLUSION: Princinple components as the key factors is feasible to simulate and assess the Web-based PBL learning effect well from four different aspects.
