Alzheimer's disease (AD) andβ2-AR are connected in a way as researchers'reports that is still not completely understood, but it's known that environmental factors such as acute stress induces abnormal activation ofβ2-AR affects AD. Here we show an evidence that a selectiveβ2-adrenergic agonist clenbuterol is capable of increasing cytotoxicity on PC12 cell without a dose-dependent manner. By MTT and biochemical assays we demonstrate that clenbuterol impairs PC12 cell which is also shown by using Hoechst staining. Furthermore, we detect that the impairment may via nitric oxide pathway and ERK passway by western blotting which opens a fresh view for the future research. Together, these results may provide opportunities for the design of preventive and therapeutic strategies against AD.
