| Objective The effect of lycium barbarum polysaccharides (LBP) on blood lipid, aortic oxidative stress and cells apoptosis of aortic smooth muscle cells in hyperlipidemic rats were studied,got the expeirmental feasibility evaluate of the LBP for treatment of hyperlipemia and atherosclerosis. Methods Seventy male SD rats were used and divided into 6 groups randomly,including group A(control group),B(hyperlipemia group),C(LBP low dose 40 mg/kg.d group), D(LBP middle dose 80 mg/kg.d group), E(LBP high dose 120 mg/kg.d group),F(simvastatin group).There were 12 rats in each group except 10 in control group. Control group was fed with normal diet,and the other groups rats were fed with high cholesterol diet continuely while the hyperlipidemic rats model were found after 4 weeks. Then LBP groups(group C,D,E)rats were treated with LBP, simvastatin group rats recevied simvastatin,and control group rats received normal saline by oral infusion, capacity for 1ml/kg everyday.4 weeks late all the rats were killed after rats blood lipids sample were collected, the superoxide dismutase(SOD) and maleic dialdehyde(MDA) in aorta homogenate were measured,and the levels of the index of apoptosis in aorta smooth muscle cells were measured on pathological section. Results Compared with control group,the sesult of triglyceride(TG),cholesterol(TC) and low density lipoprotein(LDL) in LBP and simvastatin groups were lower than that in the hyperlipidemic groop(P <0.05 or P <0.01), hepatic steatosis of LBP and simvastatin groups were significantly reduced than that in the hyperlipidemic groop. The level of MDA in the hyperlipidemic groop was higher,but SOD and SOD/MDA were lower than the normal control groop(P <0.01).Level of SOD,SOD/MDA in different doses of LBP groups and simvastatin group was higher but MDA was lower than the hyperlipidemic groop(P <0.01). The level of the index of smooth muscle cells apoptosis in the different doses of LBP and simvastatin groups was higher than that in the hyperlipidemic groop(P <0.05 or P <0.01). The treatment effect of LBP high dose 120 mg/kg.d group and simvastatin group was better than other LBP group.Conclusions LBP can decrease the levels of TG,TC and LDL of hyperlipidemic rats,reduce hyperlipidemic rats hepatic steatosis,clear away oxygen radicals,increase the levels of the index of aorta smooth muscle cells apoptosis of hyperlipidemic rats, and slow down the atherosclerosis of hyperlipidemic rats. |
