Objective:This clinical observation is a part of the topic "Acupuncture treatment of Bell's Palsy in a gas and neuron-psychological factors on the effects of acupuncture, multi-center randomized controlled trials" which is the sub-topic of the national 973 project "Research on Specificity and Influencing factors of Meridian Effect" (topic number:2006CB504502). Through the treatment of Bell's Palsy patients, the study takes clinical efficacy of the treatment with injection and medicine for Bell's Pslsy as an entry point, in which Cattell personality factor test and cancellation test are used. It observes the neuropsychological factor's influence on clinical efficacy of acupuncture to do preliminary research on meridian effect law. Methods:First, clinical dataThe clinical research cases are from 50 outpatients and inpatients who received treatment in Hubei Chinese Medicine Hospital from March 2009 to September 2010. The patients are taken Cattell personality factor test and cancellation test under the requirement. Record the score of each scale and take them as metrics of neuropsychological factor.Convert the score of Cattell personality factor test into standards and calculate four subfactor score of personality types (dual personality) corresponding to the calculation formula. Cancellation test calculate the score of working eff icency corresponding to the calculation formula, Divide the patients according to score high in the corresponding low-score,medium-score and high-score group, and carries on the observation. Patients were given the same medicine therapy. Prednisone tablets:30mg po qd*7 days,20mg po qd*4 days, 10g po qd*3 days; Vitamin B1 injection: 0.1, intramuscular injecton*14 days; Mecobalamin injection: 0.5mg, intramuscular injection*14 days; 14 days later,Vitamin B1 tablets,20mg, three times a day; Mecobalamin tablets,0.5mg, tid. Each group was treated with acupuncture in the same acupoint in the first 4 weeks. Second, observation timeClinical sympotoms and related scale index were observed and recorded on the first day of patients'enrollment and after 2 and 4 courses of treament.Third, psychological test timePatients were tested with 16pf on the first day of enrollment and with cancellation on the 1st,90th and 180th day.Fourth, index observationClinical symptoms and signs, House Brackmann grading scale and Nottingham facial never grading scale and physical function index of facial deformity index were observed. Results:First, the analysis of the efficacy of treatment with injection and medicine for Bell's Palsy After 4 courses of treatment, the total efficiency rate of each group was 100% with no ineffective case. It indicates it's effective to treat Bell's Palsy with injection and medicine and the efficacy is not influenced by neuropsychological factor.Second, the analysis of the efficacy of House Brackmann graging scaleEach group was compared before the treament and after 2 and 4 courses.By comparison, there is no marked difference in each group. So there is no marked difference within groups and it shows it's effective to treat Bell's Palsy with injection and medicine and the efficacy is not influenced by neuropsychological factor.Third, the analysis of the efficacy of facial nerve grading scaleEach group was compared before the treament and after 2 and 4 courses.By comparison, there is no marked difference in each group. So there is no marked difference within groups and it shows it's effective to treat Bell's Palsy with injection and medicine and the efficacy is not influenced by neuropsychological factor.Fourth, the analysis of facial deformity index and physical function efficacy. Each group was compared before the treament and after 2 and 4 courses. By comparison, there is no marked difference in each group. So there is no marked difference within groups and it shows it's effective to treat Bell's Palsy with injection and medicine and the efficacy is not influenced by neuropsychological factor. Conclusion:This clinical observation proves the treatment of injection and medicine for Bell's Palsy has notable efficacy in improving local syptoms, promoting the recovery of facial nerve function and bettering patients'physical function. Through the comparison of the statistical treatment results of each group, it confirms the neuropsychological factor does not affect the clinical effect of the treatment with injection and medicine for Bell's Palsy.
