Objective: Cervical spondylopathy is common amongst middle aged and elderly people. This disease is most commonly caused by cervical intervertebral regression. To set up the cervical disc rat model with unbalanced dynamic and static forces for observing and discussing the expression and significance of TNF-a,IL-1? in the cervical disc regression, moreover, for discussing the mechanism of the cervical disc regression in order to provide experimental evidence for the clinical treatment of cervical spondylopathy.Method: Sixty SD rats were randomly divided into 2 groups; 34 for the animal model group with cervical spondylopathy and 34 for the comparison group with sham-operation. The model group should be cut off 1.5 cm superficial and deep layer neck muscle and cut off the supraspinatus and interspinal ligamentum for setting up the cervical disc rat model with unbalance of dynamic and static forces. The comparison group will be injected with an anesthetic without cutting of the suprespinatus and interspinal ligamentum. Three months later the ultra structure of the apoptosis cells of intervertebral disc was observed under the electron microscope. The histomorphological changes of intervertbal disc was observed under the optical microscope. To deeply explore the expression of TNF-a,IL-1? in the model group and the control group by immunohistochemistry and to evaluate their datum by statistical analysis.Result: Compared with the control group, the model group represented distinct damage and degeneration. After three months of the experiment the fiber structure of the cervical intervertebral disc in the rats of the model group had deteriorated. The cells of the ligaments move and the fiber structure is abnormal. Some of the bone marrow will become compacted and disorderly. Under the microscope there is evidence of cellular distruction. The plasma becomes deteriorated and in some cases disappears. The expression with immunohistochemestry of TNF-a and IL-1? in the model group is obviously higher than in the normal group. There is statistical significances (p<0.01)Conclusion: Our study shows that characteristic degenerative changes of the forces. The model group was successful through the experiment. The statistical analysis demonstrated the expression of TNF-a and IL-1? in model group was remarkably higher than which showed in the control group (p<0.01). The high expression of TNF-a and IL-1? in cervical disc is associated with cervical disc degenaeration.
