Objective: Benign tumor of Parotid gland is the most common salivary gland tumor, about 90% benign tumor is in the superficial parotid gland. Surgery is the only treatment of parotid benign tumor effective means, because many complications after, so easily arise from parotid benign tumor surgery procedures and relevant researches have been favourite topics among researchers. As the advancement and development of histopathological techniques since few years, the surgeons are able to perform surgical procedures of benign Parotid tumor in more better way on the bases of advanced theoratical and practical methods which lead to regional resection of parotid benign tumors, and some part of its surrounding tissues in the control group resulting in reduced postoperative complications and recurrence and healthful curative effect achieved satisfactorily. At present the development direction of the parotid gland surgery focus on reduce tumor recurrence and protecting facial nerve to minimize the surgical trauma and the influence to face. This paper discusses the follow-up data in the superficial parotid benign tumor resection of the regional application value, the treatment of regional resection in treatment evaluation and clinical effect of the superficial parotid gland benign tumors through retrospective survey in In Patient Department of Maxillo facially Department of First Affiliated Hospital of Dalian Medical University.Material and methods:Retrospectively data of 196 patients were collected having the benign tumor in superficial Parotid gland diagnosed first time in First Affiliated Hospital of Dalian Medical University, oral and maxillofacial surgery Department from June 2006 to June 2010. The data includes; operating time, surgical incision length, intraoperative anatomical facial nerve branch number, intraoperatie blood loss, postoperative recurrence, Frey 's syndrome, facial paralysis, saliary fistula and accumulate salivary, facial deformity, ear periderm skin to numb situation, the gland function for statistical analysis. Results:Patients having Regional resection intraoperativen involved anatomical facial nerve branch of 1.65±0.93, with incision length of 6.67±1.38 cm and the operating time 82.25±27.51 min.As compared with glandular superficial resection, Regional recection has significant advantage of intraoperatie blood loss for 45.49±9.41 ml, while superficial resection the blood loss is 69.85±12.97 ml, though both groups have P > 0.05, but compare blood loss median ,regional excision group significantly lowers superficial resection groups. In Regional resection, Postoperative facial paralysis, Fre 's syndrome, gland function, salivary fistula and accumulate salivary, ear periderm skin to numb with aspects of statistical differences (P < 0.05), and postoperative recurrence rate and facial deformity satisfaction P > 0.05, but regional resection patients on facial deformity satisfaction in number than the control group more than obvious. Conclusion:For the superficial parotid benign tumors, regional resection, compared with glandular superficial resection intraoperative, has operative time, either and profile nerve branch or the postoperative complications were number of significant advantage.
