| Objective Qishe is a widely-used medicine in clinical application with its remarkable effect. Doctors both in ancient and modern times have gathered a great deal of experience in using it, although with some differences. Modern pharmacological research has also achieved some progress. Based on TCM theory and systematic summary of Qishe's information, this research is aimed at providing a documentary reference for Qishe's clinical application and further research work. Methods The research was conducted by the combination of document-study, statistical analysis and summary of ancient prescriptions including Qishe and using-experience.Conclusion In ancient times, the use of Qishe was decided by the syndrome, rather than the disease. Qishe can be applied in various diseases caused by pathogenic wind-generally in stubborn cases. But the patients of yin-deficient or blood-deficient is the contradiction of using it.There is a diversity of Qishe's formulation-more pill and powder in the ancient times and more decoction nowadays. All formulations of decoction, wine, pill and powder have achieved significant effects in clinical application.Appropriate compatibility can enhance Qishe's effect. In ancient prescriptions it is mostly used together with the drugs of relieving the exterior disorder, calming the liver to stop endogenous wind and the ones of eliminating the wind and dampness. However, in modern prescriptions, stasis-dissolving drugs are more used and reptile drugs constitute a high proportion. To promote blood circulation, expel pathogenic wind and free the channels have become the main methods of treating stubborn wind syndromes.Qishe is a rare and valuable medicinal material and it can be replaced by Wushaoshe, which is cheaper and less harmful. |
