An Anaysis Of The Life-history Of SegauRting BloBzang DpalLadan

SgeauRting BloBzang DpalLdan (1881-1944) lived from the end of nineteenth century till mid twentieth century and is a great scholar from RebGong. He didn't go to those great monasteries in Tibet Autonomous Region but stayed in a small monastery in MdoSmad or Amdo to study sutra and tantra, and he then became a well-learned great scholar of all cultures. His achievement in speaking, debating and writing was not only gloriously spreading during his time but it has been spreading from the Tibetan cultural refinement till present as well so that he has become an extremely important scholar in both rising and degrading history of Tibetan culture. Considering his life-history that is characterized with optimistic, pessimistic and twisting aspects, the objectives of this study are to recognize his achievement, to evaluate its historical aspect and to make integrity of his work.The thesis consists of four chapters. Chapters one and two discuss about the life-history of SgeauRting BloBzang DpalLdan. In chapter one, specifically, talks about his birth place, kinship, whether he has heritage or not, where he had been during his life time and finally this study talks about the process of his death with various legend, to do a groundwork for making the integrity of his entire life-history. In chapter two it is mainly described about the four places where he spent most of his time and each place in where how he had studied, debated and how he had made lots of efforts for important affairs of others. So the author carefully analyzed those above-mentioned aspects to make integrity of SgeauRting BloBzang DpalLdan's life-history. The author made his opinion of SgeauRting BloBzang DpalLdan as a great scholar because as the scholar had had those extraordinary places for studying and debating. Chapter three discusses about the scholar's efforts and stories with achievement in debating to see that how much writing works had the author had done and the scholar's face to face debate made that he had a great impact on the Tibetan ways of debating culture, and it is considered that his work is a great contribution. Chapter four is about the effort that made by SgeauRting BloBzang DpalLdan in teaching. He taught lots about sutra, tantra, the graded path to enlightenment, Kalacakra, science of grammar and philology, Tibetan grammar and study of letter writing. He cultivated many brilliant disciples. Besides, his efforts in the teaching of the graded path to enlightenment could be made as a historical transcription and the incomparable achievement that the scholar made in his teaching of etymology are analyzed through this thesis.
