With the rapid expansion of the computer application technology and the field, particularly photorealistic rendering technology and computer graphics has become more sophisticated, Non-Photorealistic Rending technology has gradually become research hotspot in computer graphics. The simulation for paper-cut art which is one of the branches in this area, especially for multicolor paper-cutting, is a relatively new and challenging field compared to the simulation of monochrome ink painting, watercolore and and cartoon.Currently, there are many problems in the field of simulating paper-cut picture such as inefficient repeating works and lack of diverse paper-cut patterns and so on. To solve these problems, a design method for paper-cut picture is presented in this paper. It collects a large number of traditional paper-cut pictures, analyzes and summarizes their modeling characteristics. Firstly, this paper decomposes them into paper-cut outline and decorative patterns, which are divided into independent patterns and complex patterns. Then, through boolean operating to bi-level graphics, it constructs a colorful independent pattern bank. Users can choose the appropriate independent pattern to compose the complex pattern according to a certain way; In addition, this paper simulates folded paper-cut picture so as to generate different forms of folded paper-cut effects according to actual needs. Using the law of pattern constitution in applied arts into designing the paper-cut patterns is one of the innovation points in this paper. It makes the form of paper-cut patterns created by this method has greater variety and artistry.Dyeing paper-cut is a kind of multicolor paper-cut, and has wide range of applications in our daily life, but the manufacture process of traditional dyeing paper-cut is very complicated and it is easy to fade so that it hard to be saved. To solve these problems, this paper presents a simulation method for dyeing paper-cut by computer. Through using texture mapping and learning from the basic concept of particle system, this paper set up dyeing brush model which is controlled by mouse to dye inner of pattern. Users can realize ideal dyeing effects by some parameters, and use design method of paper-cut to decorate the dyeing paper-cut. At last, it was integrated paper texture by texture fusion to make the traditional dyeing paper-cut effect with more vivid.This method explores a new approach for computer simulating paper-cut art and realizes the satisfied results by many experiments. This method is simple and fast, easy to realize, at the sime time, it has greater interaction and usability.
