Sperger, the both outstanding double bass player and composer during the Classical period in the 18th Century, and is also one of the composers who wrote mostly his works for double bass. His four sonatas could be considered as the only double bass works during the Classical period until today, which takes an important role not only for the double bass repertoire, but also as a great contribution to the art of double bass playing.The essay consists of four chapters. Begins with the example of his sonata T-36, focuses on the structural analysis of his sonata works, and presents the development of the double bass works during the Classical period by meaning of analyzing his interpretation. The first episode is mainly about his life, and is given an overview about his works. The first part of the second chapter is a brief description of the development of the double bass before the Classical Era The second part is emphasis on the way how Sperger composed and his particularity in his sonatas. The third chapter is based on the T-36 as a research object, giving an analysis in-depth on the structure, harmony, and also combining the practice of his interpretation. Conclude the uniqueness of his music when presenting his works. The fourth chapter is a conclusion of his contribution to the works for double bass during the Classical period.
