As a wonderful work of folk culture, the folk songs and proverbs would have been produced in the childhood of human history, and kept growing along with the development of human history, which contained much important literary value and social cognition value, and was Influential in ancient times. Therefore, this article will investigate the folk songs and proverbs's development and change in the content, form and other aspects and its function in social development in the period before the Tang Dynasty by sorting the folk songs and proverbs in the period before the Tang Dynasty.The folk songs and proverbs reflected the society very widely, from social politics to social life, from politics, economy to culture, customs, all are reflected in the folk songs and proverbs.The first chapter introduces the features of the folk songs and proverbs in the period before the Qin Dynasty. The period before the Qin Dynasty is divided into three stages:ancient times, the three Dynasties of Xia Shang Zhou and Chunqiu period, Warring States period. In ancient times, the folk songs and proverbs'main content was about the daily life and praising the leader, in the three Dynasties of Xia Shang Zhou and Chunqiu period, Warring States, the folk songs and proverbs' main content was about current affairs.The second chapter describes the folk songs and proverbs of the Qin and Han Dynasties. Because Qin was short-lived and containd two generations of tyranny, the number of its folk songs and proverbs was small, the main content was about the tyrannical emperors Han Dynasty surged in the number of folk songs and proverbs, content was more refined. In the aspect of social politics, there were folk songs and proverbs reflecting the infighting between the ruling class, the society's dark, the political corruption, the curse on the corrupt officials and the praise on the Virtuous officials. Person-evaluation was also an important aspect in the folk songs and proverbs of Han Dynasty. Person-evaluation was from the Election system and grade System of Han Dynasty, including the of evaluation about virtue, friends, talents, character, appearance and other aspects, Person-evaluation about the classics was much salient because of the classics's bloom in the Han Dynasty. The third chapters introduce the content and form characteristics of the folk songs and proverbs in the period of Wei-Jin, Southern and Northern Dynasties. These dynasties were full of turmoil and war, for the folk songs and proverbs's contend in this period, on the one hand, it followed the two aspects of the Han Dynasty's folk songs and proverbs:current affairs and Person-evaluation, on the other hand, there were some content such as war, military medals and other aspects which was added into its current affairs, and Person-evaluation also reflected the impact of metaphysics and Buddhism.The final chapter summarizes the overview of the folk songs and proverbs' development and change on the content and form before the Tang Dynasty, and analyzes the influence to the folk songs and proverbs'content and form from the social politics, economic and cultural conditions in each era.
