The Analysis Of Marx's Evaluation Criterions Thought About Social Development

Sartre once said, Marxism, not only hasn't exhausted, but also is still very young, almost in his childhood. It has just developed, and it is still the philosophy of our times. Marxism can't be transcended, because the situation which produces it hasn't been surpassed. The marxist evaluation criterion thought sbout social development, as one of the important contents of Marxism, is also more stronger than before, while can withstand the test of times.Although Marx never stated explicitly about what is the evaluation criterion of social development, in<The Manuscript of Economy and Philosophy in 1844>, he had said:"Animals build only in accordance with the criterion and need of the species which it belongs to, while humankind know to produce according to any kind of criterions, and understand how apply the inner criterion to objects everywhere; therefore, humankind also build in accordance to the principle of beauty." This conclusion can be seen as Marx's "two kinds of criterion" judgment. "Species criterion " is object criterion, referring to objects'own nature, while "Inner criterion " is subject criterion, referring to the nature of subjects'essential powers. Applied to the social history domain, the former is the criterion of history, and the latter is the criterion of values. In the problem of social development and its evaluation, Marx's brillance is that he unified historical facts which can be confirmed by experience and value beliefs which are difficult to be confirmed by experience, ontology and axiology, through the practical idea.This paper's original intention is to rethink and reevaluate the popular principle that "the value criterion should obey the historical criterion", and try to research about the evaluation criterion thought which selected from Marx's social development theory. On condition that affirming the positive role of historical citerion, the article will re-establish the status of Marx's value ctiterion. Starting from the unitarity of the both two, the article will try to explore the contemporary significance of Marx's evaluation criterion about social development thought. On the basis of sorbing predecessors' research achivement and studying correlative monographs, adhere to the basic principle of historical materialism, this paper mainly utilized the consolidated method of history and logic, while overall analysis method and interdisciplinary system analysis method are also used.The first part of the article mainly expounds the social problems which contemporary China confronted with in the economic development process, and then analyzes the causes of development paradox and two attitudes that people have about it. On the basis of them, two evaluation criterions are introduced. Marx's evaluation criterion thought about social development will be carded in the second part, and the status and interalation of the two criterions will also be inquired in Marx's ideological system. The third part discusses the advantages of Marx's evaluation criterions thought, and in what sense Marx transcended sentimentalists like Rousseau and production activists like David ricardo. The fourth part reflects Marx's evaluation criterion thought, and two main problems will be discussed, that are, how to treat the "evil" and its effect in the process of history development and how to choose in productive forces and the humanistic value.Evaluation and selection depends on standard and criterion. Only in terms of certain evaluation interion of social development, the effective judgement to social object can be taken matter-of-factly, and then investigate the degree of social development and the significance that social development made to the people as social subject. Marx took social development thoughts laid on the scientific basis of historical materialism and historical dialectic, and took double theoretical perspective in reserch of social historical phenomenon. These provide us beneficial ways and means for understanding profoundly and solve industriously some social problems in the process of historical development.
