Abstract/Summary:
The speech act theory was first proposed by British philosopher Austin. The question of how to do things with words has been researched as the key point by linguists for so many years. Recently linguists use speech act theory to explain a lot of practical speech acts which include imperative speech act, request act. rejective act, and so on. Through studying this subject, we find that there are not enough researches for analyzing the warning speech act.Therefore, this thesis starts with a new area to research warning speech act completely and systematically so as to find out pragmatics rules of warning speech act. After researching the subject, we find that a contrastive study can be used to make a further learn about the relations among warning speech act, threat speech act and forbiddance speech act and find out their delicate transformations so as to have a better understanding about warning speech act and complete speech act theory.This thesis has put theory and practice together. Thus, a large number of English and Chinese examples collected from people's real lives are used to help people have a direct understanding about this theory. Meanwhile, three specific contexts related to people's daily activities of tour, language teaching and learning and social communications are analyzed one by one. The purpose is to provide people with more instructions about their daily communication, promote cross-culture development and establish a harmonious linguistic environment for building a harmonious society.
