Moral transformation is an issue of concern for ordinary people living in the period of economic transformation. In the preface of Critique of Political Economy Marx points that the production mode of material life restricts the process of the whole social life,political life and social life.The economic boom in"Coolidge prosperity"in America changes not only social and economic structure and economic form, but also it is a thorough transformation of social culture.Morality ,as an important part of culture, shows deep-level,all-round, comprehensive challenge and reflect on traditional moral norms in this transformation, thus it has profound impact on American society and directly prompts the formation of American life.Research on American moral transformation from historical perspective has certain academic and pratical significance for China in the the same moral transformation period.This paper is divided into three parts.The first part: the historical background of moral transformation in America.With the rapid development of science and technology and productive force, The material wealth of the society in America has increased dramatically, and standard of living has risen ceaselessly, thus forming a seven-year old "Coolidge prosperity.Under the impact of dramatic social change,the original moral norms rapidly collapeses and the inner spirit state of people starts to be out-of-balance,and even in chaos.So far,moral norms began a profound transformation,and America enters has entered moral transformation period which has profound influences for the future.The second part: the manifestations after Amercia enters cosumer society.During the period of moral transformation in the 1920s,America presents scenes which are completely differnent from traditional moral norms. First,Amreican people's consumer values have changed greatly,and the endless pursuit of commodity leads to that consumerism morality and hedonism way of life became the mainstream of society.Secondly,women's social status changes.After gaining the right to vote,women leave home and have independent economic status and make revolutionaty change in the way of life.Finally,the convienience brought by the popularization of cars,the new forms of dancing rises in the ballroom, Vienna psychoanalysts Sigmond Froid's doctrine'help and increasingly popularization of wine greatly reduce是the taboo between men and women.The third part:the influences of moral transformation in American society. moral transformation in American society in 1920s improves the women's status and promoted the emancipation of women.But on the other hand, old moral norms has been abandoned ,while at the same time, the new guidelines still has not been established, its money-worship and hedonism buried the curse for the depression.various problems hide behind prosperity.
