The beginning that the western modern drama was introduced into China, our country was facing fierce social transformation and institutional change. With the development of the Western discourse power, the Western stage play influenced the Chinese drama deeply with every passing day. Mr. Ah Jia was born at the beginning the twentieth century, and he was deeply affected by the Western play when studing the Chinese drama.The thesis consists of three chapters, sorting out three connected parts that are the introduction of Western drama and the production of Ah Jia's drama theory, Ah Jia's drama theory and the regression of Chinese drama view, and the contemporary significance of Ah Jia's drama theory and the direction of the development of Chinese contemporary drama, which discusses the development direction of Chinese drama under the influence of Western drama and analyzes the formation, development and contemporary significance of Ah Jia's drama theory in the period of blending modern Chinese and Western dramas.The first part is the introduction of Western drama and the production of Ah Jia's drama theory, which focusing on internal and external causes of the collision of Chinese and Western Dramas and the background of Ah Jia's drama theory from three aspects. First, radical changes in Chinese society caused the rapid transformation of culture, and external and internal factors led to improvement of Chinese drama. Second, intense collision of Chinese and Western drama views has had a profound impact on the transformation and development of Chinese opera, which has active side but also negative side. Third, Mr. Ah Jia grew in the wave of social changes and was edified by Chinese traditional opera, and also received the Western systematical education on modern drama theory. His theory of drama blends aesthetic law and realization method in Western modern drama and Chinese opera.The second part concerns the regression of Chinese drama view though the perspective of Ah Jia's drama theory. After sorting out Ah Jia's theory and practice, his artistic life has been divided into three periods. And this part studies the general discussion. Ah Jia's drama theory by listing the study cores, focuses on the regression of Chinese drama view through the perspective of Ah Jia's drama theory by specifying Ah Jia's cognition on the aesthetic value of Chinese drama and the regression of Chinese drama view and analysing the internal connection between them.The third part discusses the contemporary significance of Ah Jia's drama theory and the direction of Chinese contemporary drama. This part mainly works on two subjects which are directive significance on modern Chinese drama from Ah Jia's drama theory and analysis on bottleneck and direction of modern Chinese drama.Viewing from the angle of Chinese drama for the first time and penetrating through Ah Jia's drama theory, the thesis probes into the important impact on transformation and development of Chinese drama after the introduction of the western play, which is also the main result of the thesis. By sorting and studing Ah Jia's drama theory, the present writer finds that the contemporary performing and directing theories in China were deeply influenced and penetrated by the system of Stanislavski in the Western stage play. At the time that the contemporary Chinese drama confronting bottleneck, studies could be taken from Ah Jia's performing and directing theories, so as to clarify the impacts from the system of Stanislavski and search the Chinese drama development direction which closely associates to Chinese aesthetics.
