The Study On How Huainanzi Inheriting And Developing The Laozi

The Huainanzi is a Chinese philosophical classic from the Han dynasty that was written under the patronage of Liu An and his hanger-ons. Because it was not far from the Warring States Period and Qin, the thoughts of philosophers remain affecting. The ideological and cultural characteristics of the early Han Dynasty have been embodied in the Huainanzi. Thoughts of the Laozi are the heart and soul of Taoism. Huainanzi blends Daoist, Confucianist, and Legalist concepts in which Laozi is the book is most cited. Huainanzi has four parts recording the life of Lao Zi, seventy-seven pats reference to Laozi directly in total and fifty-seven parts in the chapter "Responses of Dao". It proves that the authors'respect of the Laozi and his deep study of the Laozi system. Comparing with Laozi, Huainanzi not only comes down continuously in the one line, but also has some developments and evolutions. In other word, Huainanzi isn't the reference of Laozi. It understands the new things deeply, introduces new theories and ideas and it is more complete when explains the views. The purpose of Liu An writing this book is finding the origin of fortunes and disasters in life, discussing the rules of the society's ups and downs and establishing a systematic theory. It refers to the ideas of Laozi for supporting and also improves the ideas to expound its views. Laozi comes out in the Hundred Schools of Thought period that chinese thought is very open and diverse. Huainanzi inherits the core of the Laozi theory system. Because of in the evolution time, it's endowed with dialectical spirit, reflective spirit and enterprising spirit. After that, China enters the time of Confucianism, "abandon all other schools, Only Confucianism". From this perspective, Huannaizi at the turning point in the history, between the deluge of thoughts and the autocracy of thoughts, makes a bloom of Ideology and culture. It connects the past and future and is unrivaled in both ancient and modem times. Therefore, from its special meaning of the epoch, researching the Hainanzi has both the value of literature and the value of promoting the progress of politics and society.In this paper, the method of combining theory and practices is used to study the inheritance and development of Laozi and discuss the literary thoughts, political thoughts and the views of nature in Huainanzi.This article is structured into four parts:1. The first chapter summarizes the Huainanzi and Laozi, elaborates their historical and cultural background, analyzes its ideological content and features. On the basis of that, it further discusses the value and significance of citing Laozi in the Hainanzi.2. The second chapter, from the aspects of literary aesthetic and creation, discusses the literary thoughts of Huainanzi. It mainly analyzes the literary concept of winnowing truth from falsehood in Huainanzi. What's more, from the view of simplicity and pureness, it clarifies inheritance and development of Laozi's natural beauty theory. Moreover, it requires that to make a comment out of true feeling to reach the pureness when writing the Huainanzi. By way of that, to further explain the succession and growth of Laozi's thoughts about nature and pureness.3. ChapterⅢ, from the three aspects that the generation and evolution of "Tao", the only way to approach "Tao" and the attitude of life, discusses the succession and promotion of Laozi's thinking about nature. In this chapter, it tells the base of natural theory, like the formation of universe, the reference of Tao. In addition, it also shows the points about letting nature take its course, concealing one's ability, taking life and death easy and so on.4. ChapterⅣ, from the ideal society and the ideal king these two aspects, compares the political thoughts between the Huainanzi and Laozi. In terms ofIdeal society, it mainly discuss about the Society Respect Ethics in Huainanzi and A small Utopian Society in Laozi. In terms of ideal king, it mainly discusses about the Proper way of charge referred in Huainanzi and Sage's charge holed in Laozi.Conclusion:It summarizes the whole text and generalizes the inheritances and developments of Laozi in Huainanzi.
