The Comparative Study Of Personality Psychology Thoughts In Chinese And The Western Civilization

This doctoral dissertation focuses on the comparison between the western psychologists views on personality and their counterparts perspectives on personality in China, aims to explore the profoundly difference of personality theories between them, show characteristics of their own theories by demonstrating the historical development of personality ideas and comparing the relevant studies in this academic fields in the hope that those problems both at micro level and macro level would be dealt with for the purpose of providing the foundation for constructing a indigenization system of personality, and offering the unique perspective for describing human personality as well as presenting the one-sided view on those questions. At micro level, making a theoretical premise for the development of Chinese indigenous personality psychology is my attempt in this big paper on one hand; at macro level, providing a logic analysis and theoretical background to transforming the traditional Chinese people's personality into modernized personality on the other hand. The combination of those efforts will provide a new and different perspective not only for constructing a theory of personality with Chinese characteristics but also for comprehending the social advancement taking place in China and understanding the different cultural background between China and the western civilization.
