High School Students Thinking Style, Anxiety And Creative Relationship

Four hundred and five high school students in Jiangsu province were randomly selected to participate in this study. They were responded to the Thinking Styles Inventory, State-Trait Anxiety Inventory and TTCT. This study aimed at investigating the relationship between thinking styles and creativity, the relationship between anxiety and creativity. Furthermore, we expounded the idea that thinking styles as a third variable can mediate the relationship between anxiety and creativity.The results are as follows:1. Overall, most students preferred to legislative style, external style, liberal style and judicial style, and less use of oligarchic style. Male students preferred monarchic style, internal style and liberal style and female students have more executive style, local style, external style and conservative style.2. About the relationship between thinking styles and creativity, results showed that students who had higher scores in creativity preferred to liberal style, students who had lower scores in creativity preferred executive style, oligarchic style and conservative style, and the difference was significant.3. Students who had higher scores on the fluency preferred anarchic style, global style, external style and liberal style, students who had lower scores on the fluency preferred legislative style, executive style, judicial style, monarchic style, hierarchic style, oligarchic style, local style, internal style and conservative style, moreover, there were significant difference on conservative style; Students who had higher scores on the flexibility preferred anarchic style, external style and liberal style, students who had lower scores on the flexibility preferred legislative style, executive style, judicial style, monarchic style, hierarchic style, oligarchic style, local style, internal style and conservative style, moreover, there were significant difference on conservative and oligarchic style; Students who had lower scores on the originality preferred anarchic style, global style, external style and liberal style, students who had lower scores on the fluency preferred executive style and oligarchic style.4. About the relationship between anxiety and creativity, the trait anxiety had no effect on creativity, but the creativity scores of low-state anxiety were significantly higher than those of their high-state anxiety counterparts, especially in fluency, flexibility and originality. 5. Executive style, monarchic style, anarchic style, global style, internal style and conservative style can mediate the relationship of state anxiety and creativity. We didn't find the mediation of thinking styles to trait anxiety and creativity.
