| "Aleko" is the representative work by Russian great romanticism composer Rachmaninov. It was his graduation composition upon graduating from Moscow Conservatory of Music when he was 19 years old. The young Rachmaninoff was rewarded with a gold medal and fell into Tchaikovsky's good graces as a result of this composition. Due to the success of "Aleko", Rachmaninov graduated with a perfect grade. From this, he built up confident, and finally became the world famous master composer he is known as today.This thesis specifically analyses the composition process of "Aleko" and its musical characteristics. Part 1, briefly introduces the Rachmaninov's lifetime and musical composition; Part 2, introduces the origins of the "Aleko" script, including introduction of the original work and the author Pushkin, the gist of the story, Chinese version and comparisons between the opera script and the original work; Part 3, researches on the character traits of the main figures; Part 4, specifically analyses the music of the opera "Aleko"; Part 5, describes the understanding and conclusion of the thesis author after deep study and reseach on "Aleko"... |
