Zhuangzi, a great philosopher, ideologist and litterateur in China, takes an important historical position in Taoism and is listed after the name of Laozi, the founder of Taoism, as Lao-Zhuang. His masterpiece Zhuangzi is held in high esteem by the followers and takes an important historical position in the fields of philosophy, literature and aesthetics. This paper studies Zhuangzi in the aspect of life philosophy. First of all, it interprets forget in Zhuangzi philologically and provides a philosophical definition of Forget; then with a reference from Xin-Zhai and Zuo-Wang, the three levels of Forget in Zhuangzi was proposed:forget materials, forget shapes and forget oneself. The emphasis lies in claiming the important role of forget in the philosophy of Zhuangzi and how an ideal life level of forgetting both material and oneself could be achieved by study Forget and after passing the stages of giving up fame and wealth, forgetting the shapes and forgetting oneself. A study on the life philosophy of Zhuangzi can inherit and develop traditional Chinese culture and more importantly, it can provide enlightenments to contemporary society and people. By studying Zhuangzi, the root cause for many pains and problems of modern people can be revealed, which indicates practical significance. |
