The thesis is mainly studying on the spy fiction, which come out in a large number nowadays in China. The purpose of this study is to find out the reason why the spy fiction so popular under the mainstream ideology and public culture consumer market, and try to present the development tactics of spy fiction in future. Apart from Preface and epilogue, the paper is divided into three parts. In the preface, it explains the definition of"the spy fiction"by means of making a distinction among spy fiction, detective fiction, police and legal fiction, and antiespionage fiction. Meanwhile it point out the key point of this paper on the basis of showing existing research thesises on this theme.The first chapter of the paper analyzes and concludes some unique modes which exist in the design of plots, characterization, and narrative technique from the creation itself and literary forms, these mode include that the design of plots use basically"3+1"mode; instead of the ordinary shaping of the perfect"God", the depiction of detailed complex "man" is emphasized when shaping the character; a variety of traditional and modern narrative techniques are mixed together in narrating methods, which formed unique narrative style. After analyzing spy fictions'holistic creation mode, this chapter also discuss MaiJia ,who is the current representative personage in the field of spy fiction, in depth, which illustrate the foregoing with typical example on the one hand, on the other hand present some Maijia's unique in creation.The second chapter is the most essential content of the paper, mainly discussing the phenomenon that the current spy fiction not only gains positive recognitions from dominant ideology but is also chased by the market of mass culture consumption, and analysises multiple factors that cause this phenomenon. The reason that why the spy fiction is able to survive between dominant ideology and market is summarized as the five aspects: firstly ,the spy war theme belongs to one of the special form of thematic theme, it meets the requirements of ideology in theme. and caters to market interest in this form; secondly ,the spy fiction have a profound historical accumulation and good mass base in Chinese contemporary literary history, and once lifted two upsurges, there is a complex of preference for spy story in long-term in the public; thirdly, by virtue of its unique theme advantage, multiple story elements are built into works, so that the spy fiction is able to meet many public psychological demands such as seek novelty, fill faith, intellectual challenges and the reminiscent mood ,etc; fourthly, nowadays with media power going to strength and consumption culture prevailing, fueled by movie and TV drama the spy fiction is easy to occupy the market; fifthly, the opportunity of National Day of the 60th anniversary and the era fashion also provide an unprecedented opportunity for the development of the spy fiction.On the basis of the two chapter's discussions above, the third chapter points out some problems in the evolution of the spy fiction, that is general low quality and serious homogeneity phenomenon, etc. To solve these problems and to promote the future development of the spy fiction, the end of the article puts forward countermeasures, namely first of all ,to enhance the level of the creation, then ,to grasp the market trend's vane at any time, once more, to maintain the public attention to the spy theme well all along, in addition, to extend the industry chain for even more wider popular culture consumption market.Unlike the traditional textual studies, this paper places the spy fiction in two fields, which are ideology and consumer market, to ponder and examine, and attempts to provide a possibility of the breakthrough from single field for the literature creation nowadays, to prove that the literature creation is able to reconcile seemingly contradictory main stream and market, and to win recognition and preference from both sides simultaneously, through in-depth discussion and analysis about the phenomenon and reasons of the spy fiction welcome by mainstream ideology and popular culture consumption market.
