The spirit of Chan practice is the most important for Buddhism。Whether in theory or practice level,Chan practice is not given enough attention in contemporary Buddhist. Faced with this situation that wrong Chan practice theory leads to the problems of Chan practice, with the Buddha sad pregnant, Yinshun has tried his best to find the thought of Chan practice from the entire Buddhist. He hoped that the theory of Chan practice would be clarified, and contemporary Buddhists could gain some guidance in Chan practice. This paper explains the YinShun's theory of Chan practice. The first chapter discusses the relationship of Yinshun's theory of Chan and sects. Section I elaborates the relationship between Chan and sects in the history, in order to show the influence of "Chan and other sects of Buddhism are in one essence"in the history of the development of Buddhism. Section II consists of two parts: "teaching is from Chan" and "yi Chan ming jiao". Yin Shun considers that the spirit of Chan practice as important as Chan practice theory. After known the connection between Chan and teaching, next chapter is about thought of Chan practice——view of meditation and wisdom. As the style of the first chapter , this chapter briefly discusses the concept of meditation and wisdom in the history of Buddhism in India and China. Then next part elaborates concept of Yin Shun's view of meditation and wisdom. It is composed of three aspects that Yinshun most concern about : the teaching sequence of meditation and wisdom, to distinguish between true and false and "do not practice deep-set samadhi, and do not remove trouble". In the third chapter, as the theoretical background from Humanistic Buddhism, Yinshun proposes the principles of Chan practice, which is the act of starting point of bodhisattva. There are three principles: oriented to Bodhicitta, the combination of emptiness and charity and the unity of self-interest and altruism. In final conclusion, I give some reflections on people's questions which are about Yinshun's Chan practice of Humanistic Buddhism. The conclusion points out the significance of Yinshun's theory of Chan practice.
