In the early 21st century, under the impact of foreign cultures, the Chinese pop music market has a bumpy ride and encounters difficulties resulting from the market slump. Many pop singers, represented by Jay Chou, Lee Hom, David Tao, etc. combine R&B, HIP-HOP, Rap,rock and roll and many other music styles, which are popular in Europe and America, with the Chinese traditional culture, which accordingly results in a feast of pop music with Chinese characteristics. The lyrics of Chinese-style popular songs are classic, meaningful and thought-provoking, which is quite different from others, especially those of love songs. Based on the theories of linguistics, this paper systematically analyzes the lyrics of Chinese-style pop songs in terms of phonetics, lexicology, grammar, rhetoric, etc., in an attempt to find out its linguistic features, and it includes the following chapters:Chapter 1 From the phonetic point of view, the rhythmic and rhyming characteristics of the lyrics are studied in terms of rhyme and tone.Chapter 2 From the lexical point of view, the characteristics of words in the lyrics are studies in terms of new words and phrases, allusions, color words, words concerned with nature, or with Chinese characteristics, etc.Chapter 3 As sentence is the basic grammatical unit, the study of the application and function of inversions, interrogative sentences, elliptical sentences, nominal sentences, etc. is carried out.Chapter 4 The use and effect of rhetoric in the lyrics are analyzed with typical examples.Chapter 5 The relationship is investigated between the lyrics of Chinese-style pop songs and the Chinese-Western cultures.Chapter 6 The grammatical standardization is necessary in the lyrics of Chinese-style pop songs.
