The art of hell is a unique artistic form in Buddhism, just like other forms which explain the meaning of Buddhism with paintings and sculptures. including ancient India, China and Christianity world. The art of hell used to be quite popular in ancient times. We can found many detailed records, interrelated literary outputs and paintings in many natures'history. Hell is a container of human sin, it balanced common moral with paradise. According to religious thought, everything we did is under the observation of gods. People can get new life by means of serving their sentence and doing atonement. Each punishment in hell is valid and based on social realities. These punishments are inconceivably sanguinary and cruel, because the hell has assembled the world's extreme terrified fears and pains in normal life. Paintings of hell reflected the attributes of human material and spiritual needs. In this sense, the meaning of hell has exceeded the function of religion, and became an interesting social topic. Artists can create many kinds of work with their taste to get sympathetic response. The leitmotiv of my essay is try to analyze the value of some paintings and sculptures in'hell art', and investigates some unique properties of it.
