When the unprecedented "cultural revolution" took place, not only China's top leaders and Chinese people, but also the foreign experts worked in China that time were involved in this fanatical revolution. It is very important for the restoration of this historical review. It is also important to strengthen international exchanges and has a very important practical significance on foreign policies now.The thesis is composed of the introduction part and four chapters.The part of introduction brings out and defines the object and generalizes the study status quo. Based on this, the framework of the thesis is constructed.Chapter 1 mainly illustrates the overview of the foreign experts working in China Since the founding of the People's Republic. This chapter briefly introduces the treatment of Soviet experts, European experts and American experts working in China, and summarizes the personal circumstances of the main foreign experts.Chapter 2 studies the Situation of the different choices of foreign experts in Beijing during the "Cultural Revolution". when the "Cultural Revolution" happened, some of whom chose to rebel operations, and some other chose the conservative action. It differs in the rebels:radical and moderate. So the foreign experts in Beijing during the "Cultural Revolution" are divided into three categories:the radical rebels, moderate rebels and conservatives.Chapter 3 narrates the encounter of foreign experts in Beijing during the "Cultural Revolution". After choosing different roads, they faced different situation:moderate rebels can work, but with the unfair treatment or confinement treatment; some of conservatives had their homes searched, and some were decentralized, their children had also been implicated; most radical rebels encountered the tragic experience of being arrested and jailed.Chapter 4 summarizes the circumstances of foreign experts in Beijing before and after the "Cultural Revolution", and generalizes the reasons why this happened.In the "Cultural Revolution", the reasons for their tragic fate are not that the foreign experts select a different path or hold different views. The main responsibility lies in the "Cultural Revolution" itself and the imperfect political system and democracy in China.
