On Zhang Ailing's Aesthetic Consciousness

Zhang Ailing radiates an eternal charm and gorgeous aura after the severe test of time in Chinese literary. It's not only a process of exploration and discovery, but also a spirit experience of enrichment of the soul and enlightenment of wisdom to unveil the enigmatic aura and probe into her aesthetic consciousness from her texts and deep soul. Her tensive and connotative language emanates thought-provoking and soul-stirring enchantment through her weird and peculiar style. She produced plenty of works in her lifetime, including novels, prose, screenplays, translations and literature treatises, which reflect her personal life experiences. With the change of time and society, the author went through various situations, witnessed new things and got fresh sensation. It's a process of becoming a butterfly for the admired author to turn from girlhood to maturity and then from flowery to plain in her uneven life and pursuit of dreams. Her aesthetic consciousness in works was influenced by different environments in different periods and revealed various styles from a dreamy girl to a star in literary well-known in Shanghai, from the wandering refugee in Hong Kong to lonely late years in a foreign land.First, this thesis analyzes the aesthetic consciousness of the rheological course of Zhang, to seek the Zhang Ailing's unique construction in cultural psychology, rich legendary life experience and the changes of creating psychology from the investigation of her life course, and to concretely explain how Zhang Ailing's four growth courses imprinted in her aesthetic consciousness in order to prove the necessity and the importance of this research. The second chapter explains the main connotation and constitutions of Zhang Ailing's aesthetic consciousness under her own rich Chinese and western cultural literacy, using the methods of artistic psychology, feminism, cultural philosophy, hermeneutics from diachronic and synchronic perspectives various to analyze and probe into her unique female perspective, desolate implication, self-writing, image in the world and the cultural interpretation in Chinese-English translation. The third chapter explores the influence of Zhang Ailing's creation and aesthetics on modern society, insights into Zhang's opinion on human's nature and further illustrates why many writers and readers become Zhang's fans reasons from three aspects based on the analysis of countercentralization writing, humanized writing and the writing to meet the expected visions. Furthermore, the author tries to look for a deeper cultural attention to Zhang Ailing's works based on the analysis of the human dilemma which was shown in Zhang Ailing's creation according to the double-sided exploration. To sum up, this thesis explores the causes for the change of her aesthetic consciousness in her writing, interprets her cultural psychology and motivations, takes a panoramic view of her writing, and analyzes the changes, constitutions and revelation of her aesthetic consciousness and its influence on her writings, expecting to provide a new angle for the study of Zhang Ailing and her work.
