Feng's philosophical thoughts, a representation of the Neo-Confucianism, was established through his new theory in the 1930s. Feng holds that the value of life exists in the understanding of its being and in light of degree of its understandings and perceptions, the meaning of life varies. The meaning of life is subjective and relies on the degree of the understanding of interpersonal relations.During the 1930s and 40s, through his study of Chinese philosophy, he discovered the philosophical gem of Confucianism of Song and Ming Dynasty and thus, established his own school of thoughts by integrating it with Western Rationalism. He put forward his Neo-Confucianism, which advocates the combination of the new realism and ideal personalistics. In four realms, the person living in nature is unaware of his being without the ability of judging good from the bad while those utilitarians possesses a strong sense of self-being with a strong taste for fame and materialism. A person of morality is the social person in the real sense, who lives to give or contribute. A state of thorough understanding the universe, a height achieved through philosophical meditation, can only be acquired through inquisitive study and thinking or the thorough understanding of Wholeness, Tao Itself and Taiji.Feng's philosophy is based on the metaphysics of Neo-Confucianism. Different from Cheng zhu, he maintains that the function of philosophy is to mainly enhance a person's spiritual realm. In his understanding,'Le Tian'and'Tong Tian'is transcendental and moderation-oriented and he also inherited the mysticism from the traditional philosophy. Knowing the similarities and differences among Buddhism, Taoism and Confucianism, Feng integrates the three with the aggressiveness of Confucianism, tranquility and inaction of Taoism, and the theory of Buddhism and proposes the theory of moral realm and that of universe, among which the realm of Confucianism refers to that of morality while the realm of Taoism and Buddhism being that of universe.
