In Allan Poe's short life, he had created almost 70 novels. During his lifetime and for some time after death, his creative talents and achievements were not had a corresponding emphasis. Some critics had strong words for his works, and even some comments were slanders. Allan Poe was destitute and worked for survival. He had been excluded from the mainstream society, and walked in the margins of society throughout his life. For this kind of life experience and social status, he unconsciously corresponded with the 'carnival' spirit, so he chose the 'edge' perspective in society and his works showed the 'carnival sense of the world'.Allan Poe's short stories hide the typical carnival plots, including the rituals of decrowning, fantastic plots and the scenes of masquerade. The plots and scenes show Allan Poe's carnival spirit and show a'overturned life'to the readers. By shaping fools, madman, 'similar appearances' who are the characters of carnival features, he expressed concerned about the conditions of modern people and humanistic care to the soul and psychology of them. In Poe's stories, the stifling atmosphere of terror and hilariously funny scenes are found out simultaneously, which creates readers' aesthetic illusion and has been criticized by many people. In fact, the writer put the two factors in carnival grotesque which makes these two incompatible elements can obtain the space to exist together.Allan Poe's works seem to eliminate the order, rank and authority of all the normal life and subvert all the things. In reality his works are the deeper critics to social ills and the concerns for human psyche and souls.
