| Chinese characters is the soul of Chinese Language. Although there are many opinions on ways of Chinese characters teaching, only those in accordance with local teaching standard and philosophy should be the guiding principle for the development of Malaysian Chinese education. Malaysia begins using a new course standard in 2011, and this study is the research of Malaysia's new course standard.The object of this study is the Chinese characters teaching in grade one of Malaysia and China primary school. This study is to describe and compare the teaching standards and teaching materials between Malaysia and China, do the statistical analysis of the Chinese characters in the teaching materials, make use of teachers'opinions collected through survey in the research. For the selection of grade one Chinese teaching materials, we choose the publications of Malaya Press and Jiangsu Education Press. Through the comparison of the two sets of teaching material, we can see the differences in Chinese characters teaching between Malaysia and China.This paper consists four chapters constitute. Preface explain the research background, research significance as well'as research object, terms'are defined as well. First chapter analyzes the standard of Chinese characters teaching on Malaysia and China. Second chapter reveal the contents of Chinese characters designed in teaching material. Third chapter is the quantitative analysis of the contents. Fourth chapter contains an interview with Malaysias and Chinese teachers, through it, teachers' experiences summarized and differenced of Chinese characters teaching in both places concluded. Finally, some suggestions for improvement on Chinese characters teaching for Malaysia are made.The innovative element of this thesis is in it method of study. In the past, studies of teaching materials are confined to static comparison. This study is based on teachers' opinions and experiences gathered in the interview, so it is more relevant in this sense. |
