With the rapid development of computer technology, Computer Aided Instruction has become one of the major methods for College English Teaching. In 2007, Requirements of University English Teaching on the University English Curriculum issued by the department of Higher Education, the Ministry of Education clearly stipulates:"Universities should make full use of modern information technology, adopted Teaching mode that based on the computer and the Traditional Lecture in the class, in order to improve solely teaching mode." Many scholars in China have done some researches on CAI, but lack of study for Higher Vocational Colleges. All classrooms were equipped computer in Hei Longjiang Vocational College of Biology Science and Technology in 2008. This college, on the other hand, encouraged teachers to have a lecture using CAI.In view of this, the present research takes teachers and students from Hei Longjiang Vocational College of Biology Science and Technology as subjects to carry out the contrastive experiments on English Teaching via CAI and traditional lecture format approach. The purpose of this research is to examine computer-aided English teaching means in higher vocational in colleges, analysis the effects to students of English ability from two kinds of teaching mode, For higher vocational teachers in the computer aided English teaching to provide better guidance and helps. During the teaching experiment tests are supplied to students to test what they learned. Then the questionnaires are administered to the learners to investigate their attitude toward the two comparative approaches.The teaching experiment of one semester, the author found computer aided English teaching is superior to the traditional teaching method in higher vocational English course, especially in listening, vocabulary and grammar. But the CAI also has overlooked weaknesses. Finally, through the analysis and discussion of the research findings, three kinds of suggestions have been put forward regarding the college, teachers, and students respectively. Because of this research scope is limited to the Hei Longjiang Vocational College of Biology Science and Technology, and the number of representatives is limited, the results have certain limitations.
