To explore the ethical belief and behaviour of college counsellors,as well as discussing which factors influence on them.Firstly,8 psychologists in different colleges have been chosen as the object of this qualitative research. Face to face interview is carried out. Phenomenology research technique will have been adapted to analyze and sort out the interview material, in order to explore the interviewees' understanding of ethical issues and ethical standard of the psychological counseling. Besides this, the messages would prepare for the self-made questionnaire. Then with the self-made questionnaire "ethical questionnaire in college counseling and psychotherapy", which questionnaire contains three parts:1)Demographic data of counselors.2)Investigation on ethical behavior with 49 items, mainly including competence, professional, emotional competence, informed consent and confidentiality, dual relationships, treatment setting,eharge,ete.3)Investigation on ethical beliefs with 31 items,a total of 245 participants were investigated with the self-made questionnaire on the ethical problems in psychotherapy and counseling, and the validated questionaire was 181,with the valid ratio of 78.33%.The results of this study as follows:(1)The interviewees pay attention to the industry code of ethics, but lack of its guidance, most of the them dealing with ethical issues with their own judegment.Besides this, factors of local culture and school environment.which induce many differences in ethical behavior and ethical awareness.It is important to intensify the professional education, to unify the ethical norms.Especially, the codes specific to college counseling.(2)Most of the interviewees in this study donot have enough confidence in the ongoing treatment,but the performances on emotional competence are a little better.Nearly half of them have received psychological counseling or supervision to help. From routine work and the information obtained in interviews, college counseling and informed consent and confidentiality are not strictly implemented in practice.but the survey results show that the respondents of the university counselors are good, this reflects the inconsistency.Under the influence of school environment, teacher-student relations and local culture,there are more possibility to have dual relationships and to damage the treatment setting.The attitude toward to ethical issues is positive,they hope to have a industry code of ethics,more people have found behaviours violated ethical norms,but few people reported it.There exist inconsistencies between behaviours and awareness.Nearly half of the interviewees are in favor of that schools should charge for the consult,which the price is lower than 30 yuan,those who concern about theeffect of psychological counseling.And others opposed to it,stand at the financial capacity of students and enthusiasm of them.(3)Interviewees' personal factors influence their ethical behaviours and awarenes s,such as title of a technical post, the time of profession, average time of practice.p rofessional background,age,gender,supervision,etc.
