Jim Jarmusch Film Studies

This paper is based on the Jim Jarmusch's film image text. It uses film auteur theory,sociology,postmodern philosophy,aesthetics and other methods synthetically to give Jim Jarmusch's film a systematic study.In the first chapter of the paper, the article give a summary review for the connotation of independent film and the general created situation of Jim Jarmusch's film at first. Next, the reason that Jim Jarmusch insists on making independent film is discussed thoroughly. The way of independent film that Jim Jarmusch chooses is not only related to anti-authority social and cultural trend but also enlightened by the aesthetic idea of French new wave film. Then the second chapter closely focuses on the film text of Jim Jarmusch, and discusses thoroughly the postmodern cultural features of anti-mainstream from the theme,plot,charters and narrative way. The third chapter analyzes the artistic expression for Jim Jarmusch's film primarily. The paper discusses the aesthetic style from movie artistic conception full of Poetic association and slow-paced visual image. The last chapter of this paper, mainly about the idealistic and artistic value of Jim Jarmusch's film, Jim Jarmusch and his film will be placed into the American film coordinate for evaluation.
