In the 20th century, china design has stepped into the age of culture within design, after experiencing the baptism of modernization; people begin to pay much attention on regional culture. In an instant, the whole country unleashes a tide of regional culture design, however, the intervene of mass media and the faster of the information flow make this kind of design which based on the characteristic of regional culture abstractive and homogenizative. As a result, it lost its previous characteristics.This article takes the culture characteristic of Huizhou as research object, leading it into the design of artistic environment of residential building. At first, it analysizes the outside environment of tradition residential building which is effected by the culture of Huizhou. In the one hand, it points out the cultural roots which form the culture-specific features and on the other hand, it extracts the patterns and elements which are shaped by the culture. Based on this, combining the new design trend of economic transition period, it discusses the possibility of combination between the creativity of Huizhou cultural characteristic and the outside environmental design of modern residential building.Besides, it makes a further research on the unique element of Huizhou culture. This article uses both practical and creative design, aiming at application, to study the renderer of Huizhou culture used in the artistic design of residential buildings'outside environment. The article aims at making a contribution to the study of the artistic design of theresidential building. In the future, the uniqueness of the design based on regional culture's characteristic will make our life colorful.
