Learning motivation triggers the learning behaviors of the L2 learners. However, in recent years, the phenomenon of motivation decreasing among the college students cripples their English learning effect, and thus gives rise to a series of L2 learning and teaching problems.Basing on the current research findings, the thesis cast its view to'de-motivation', which is to investigate motivation from the negative kind of view. The study focuses on the demotivational condition and factors of demotivation among the college students in China, and 692 students of three different grades (freshmen, sophomores as well as grade 1 postgraduate students) in Huazhong University of Science and Technology were participated in the study by means of qualitative and quantitative research. The study explored answers to hypotheses based on the previous researches. Firstly, the study assumed that factors of demotivation are different in terms of different gades, and the study tried to find out the exact the factor differences. Still the study explored the possible differences in factor of demotivation between the less motivated and more motivated learners. Lastly, the hypothesis of correlation between the college English learners' proficiency and their demotivational degree is one of the concerns in the study. The modified questionnaire of exploring the demotivation condition and factors of demotivation were handed out to the participants, and the collected data from the questionnaire is analyzed with the application of SPSS software. Based on the analysis result, 12 respondents were chosen to have interviews for further confirmation of the factors of demotivation and the possible reasons. The result shows that, firstly, the students of the three different grades share the same degree of learning demotivation; however the extent of the impact from different factors varied in accordance with their grades differentiates. Secondly, the four factors of demotivation classified in the study are conducting different influence to less motivated and more motivated learners. The less motivated participants are more vulnerable to the negative impact of the factors of demotivation, and in contrast the more motivated ones are less likely affected by the factors of demotivation. Thirdly, the English proficiency of the college students in China bears a negative correlation with the students'demotivation degree.
