As the development of globalization, English has become the world language. Thewestern developed countries take advantage of the overwhelming superiority in the aspectof economy and technology, monopolizing the dissemination right of information, leadingto the phenomenon of English linguistic imperialism. Language is the carrier of culture, asthe spread of English, the mind and lifestyle of the people from the non-English countriesare going through marked change. This research can make people realize the traits,influence and rules of English language and culture imperialism, raise awareness of thetraditional language and culture, alert against the language and culture hegemony.According to the definition of English linguistic imperialism, there are threequestions need to be solved:(1) what is the reflection of the importance of English in theeducation field?(2) What is the informants' familiarity of the English transmission waysand English cultural products?(3) What is the influence of English culture on the idea ofpeople from non-English countries? This thesis is under the guidance of John Tomlinson'stheory of culture imperialism. Questionnaire survey is adopted to assist the study. Thecollected data are analyzed with the Excel. The results are analyzed by contrastive analysisbased on Hofstate's theory of the culture dimensions to discuss the influence of Englishhegemony, explore the difference between Chinese and western culture and analyze thetraits of English linguistic imperialism.This research gets three traits of English linguistic imperialism: first, aggressiveness.Because of the powerful economic strength of the English countries, English has invadedinto every space and field. The second trait is the diversity of transmission, the methods ofEnglish spread are various, and people accept the English language and culture withoutnoticing. The third trait is impact; the culture code that English language carries makesimpact on the idea of the people from the non-English countries.
